What it is

Trigger points are tight, irritable bands of muscle that refer pain somewhere else entirely — a shoulder knot that becomes a headache, a hip band that becomes sciatic ache. This session locates the source, applies sustained pressure until it releases, then retrains the area so it stops firing.

How the session runs

  1. 01

    Map the pattern

You show us where the pain shows up; we palpate upstream to find the point that reproduces it.

  2. 02

    Confirm the source

Gentle pressure that recreates your familiar pain confirms we're on the right point before we hold it.

  3. 03

    Hold and release

Sustained pressure for 20 to 60 seconds while you breathe, until the tissue softens under the thumb.

  4. 04

    Lengthen and retrain

The area is stretched and flushed, and you leave with one or two positions to keep it quiet.

Benefits

What trigger point release does for you

  • Headache and jaw relief

Releasing the upper traps, scalenes, and suboccipitals frequently removes headaches clients have carried for months.

  • Ends referred pain

Treating the source rather than the symptom stops the same ache from reappearing a few days later.

  • Nerve-like symptoms ease

Tingling and radiating discomfort often come from muscular compression that releases with focused work.

  • Immediate, noticeable change

A released trigger point usually registers within seconds — the sharp edge simply drops out.

  • Fewer flare-ups

We identify the movement or posture that keeps feeding the point so it stops rebuilding.

  • Highly specific

This is the most precise work offered here: small areas, sustained holds, clear before-and-after.

In their words

Clients on this session

  • As someone living with PTSD, being touched can be complicated, and I've had experiences elsewhere that set me back. Every step here was explained before it happened, consent was constant, and I was told exactly what to expect and given room to say no. I left feeling safe and genuinely lighter. This is the first bodywork I've been able to keep coming back to.

  • Trigger point work on my shoulder and jaw took away headaches I'd been living with for months. He found the source instead of just working the area that hurt, and explained what he was doing as he went so I understood why. Highly recommend if you have pain nobody else has been able to explain.

Questions

Trigger Point Release FAQ

Why does pressing my shoulder make my head hurt?
That's referred pain, and it's exactly what we look for. Recreating your familiar symptom is how we confirm the right trigger point.
Is trigger point work uncomfortable?
There's an intense moment during the hold that fades as the point releases. You control the depth and can ask for less at any second.
How fast will I notice a difference?
Most clients feel a change during the session. Headache patterns often improve within a day or two of the first visit.
Can it be combined with deep tissue?
Yes, and it usually is. We blend techniques within the session as your body asks for them.
